The Red Duke by C.L. Werner - Book Review

The Red Duke by C.L. Werner
Today I'm gonna do something very different from what I usually post: A book review.
Now some of you might be thinking "meh, why would I read books in this day and age", but I'm going to reply to that:

Because there are certain books out there,
often overlooked by the crowd,
that are almost ridiculously awesome!

The Red Duke, to me, certainly is one of those. What the novel is about and why I think this way shall thus be addressed in this review.

The Story:
"Once a valorous and honourable knight of the realm, the Red Duke was betrayed and stricken down in battle but rose again before death could truly claim him. As a bloodthirsty vampire lord he undertook a long campaign of butchery and terror before being defeated once more, and entombed for all time so that he could never again menace the Old World. But centuries later the witch Jacquetta resurrects this ancient evil, and the Red Duke stalks the night again – a new reign of terror plagues the lands of Bretonnia!"

Anime Library Icons v4 ...and Stuff

It's been a while, but let's try to get this blog back on track as quickly as possible. Once again, I apologize for the lack of activity. Actually, motivation has been quite fickle lately, and when I found it, I used it to finish some novels I've been keeping on my shelf for ages, or playing less-stressful games than usual.

Okay, so now it seems there are a few things being demanded by you people, one being the Higurashi VNs, another being some more original content and general reuploads because of File-holocaust and all. These things will come in time, as soon as I'm done cleaning my PC and files (it's been quite bothersome for a few weeks, both discspace and software-wise) and of course posts on here.
I'll repost the full Higurashi series as soon as I get to check and upload the files, which won't be before I get to extend my Uploaded.to account, however. Since UL.to now boycotts the USA due to the recent events, they also removed Paypal as a payment option, meaning I have to go through additional steps to get my account lively again. If you're outside of the US and can use UL.to Links, please do so if possible, since the points I get sum up and might save me some money for extending it further.

Anyway, yes, by popular demand I'm putting these Icon sets back up right now.
Seemingly I'm still not the only one who likes his Anime Library neatly organized.

Download
Uploaded.to
Mediafire

300+ Icons included, both as .jpg and .ico files.
This, of course, includes a few variations here and there.
To avoid a glitch in previews, the Icons now include all sizes from 16x16px up to 256x256 plus the original size. There's something for every folder view, but of course they look best using the big symbol view.

As usual, if there's something missing, let me know and I'll look into uploading an additional pack with the new stuff if demand is high enough. Most of the current season should be included, though, as I'm following most shows (which also takes away from my motivation supply, sadly).

Oh, before I forget - if you're fans of Fantasy Novels with more depth than usual, I'd like to recommend picking up The Sundering Trilogy by Gav Thorpe sometime. They should be available at most online retailers, including Amazon. In case you've got your shelves full already (like me), you may also wait til October, when the Omnibus including all three novels gets released (also saves some money). They're totally worth it and I loved every paragraph.
Also, if you like some actual Vampire content with zombies and knights, get The Red Duke and have a blast. Currently reading and highly enjoying this one!

Okay, that's it, next time I'll probably have made some progress on what I said up there, and finally have a new review ready to deplay. Thanks for not giving up on my blog in the meantime!

Humble Bundle Mojam is Over

So this weekend's Humble Bundle event is over.
Almost 60 hours of work went into Mojang's "Catacomb Snatch" and the Wolfire Games and Oxeye Game Studio guys are still working hard on their contributions for Charity.

Catacomb Snatch really shaped up nicely on this last day, and its a fun game for up to two people involving mummies, guns, bombs and rails.
Both the 2D graphics and the soundtrack are amazing pieces of art and donating is worth it alone for those already.
Of course, the game itself, being a 2-Person-Shoot'em-Up-slash-RTS-Game is extremely entertaining!

Officially, the event is over, but they decided to go OVERTIME
Now not only officially but completely over!

The Mojam is currently over!
The Internet gathered a whole of
$455,919.74
for Charity!

Why You Shouldn't Bother:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Free Weekend

Steam is known for hosting Free Weekends once in a while, some introducing less-popular Indie games, others boosting the playerbase of already successful or rather unknown games, but sometimes even big blockbusters offering to join the Multiplayer mode for a few days.

These Free Weekends usually come with discounts, with most franchises going down at least 50% during that time.
It makes sense, getting people to test your game for a limited timeframe with the option to permanently add it to their libraries at a discounted price: Get them hooked, make them buy!

This Weekend you can play Call of Duty's latest "Modern Warfare 3" until Sunday, 1pm PST.
But wait, don't be excited just yet! Read on to learn why you shouldn't bother...
